At Impande, we work to improve access to ECD by strengthening the people and places that shape a child’s first five years. That means supporting ECD centres and practitioners to improve the quality of learning, and encouraging parents to be part of that journey too.
In 1966 centres we support, the number of children enrolled has grown by 10% - from 65,286 at baseline to 71,983 today. Behind that number is a quiet transformation, powered by the people who care most: parents and caregivers.

For families in rural areas, two of the biggest reasons caregivers weren’t sending children to ECD were :

“Since the beginning of home-visiting follow-ups, we’re rarely finding children still at home. This must reflect the great impact that the Home Visiting project has had in our rural area. Caregivers are reporting that children have enrolled in local ECD centres. The project has shed light on the importance of ECD and encouraged caregivers to enroll their children for a chance at a better future. It’s impressive.”
