At Impande, we believe every child deserves access to quality early learning, no matter where they are born. But in South Africa’s poorest and remotest municipalities, those opportunities are not shared equally.
That’s why we profile and prioritise every ECD centre in the most under served areas, building a complete picture of their needs.
When we know exactly where the gaps are, we can mobilise resources and make sure they reach the “last mile”: the most remote or neglected centres, where support is needed most.
The hard truth is that 597 ECDs in our database receive no government subsidies or support from any nutrition programme. Currently, we have secured nutritional support for only 213 unfunded ECD centres in WMM Municipality. That leaves 384 still in need, and thousands of children who may come to school hungry tomorrow.
